Virtually any man or woman who has developed signs of aging on the upper and/or lower eyelids can be considered a candidate for eyelid surgery. Medically referred to as blepharoplasty, this rejuvenative procedure is designed to reduce the appearance of various age-related concerns on the eyelids for a more youthful, rested appearance.
Depending on the location of your concerns, eyelid surgery can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Common issues that can often be addressed with blepharoplasty include:
- A tired and/or sad look
- Excess, drooping eyelid skin (sometimes causing obstructed vision)
- Loss of volume in the lower eyelid
- Puffy bags underneath the eyes
- Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes
If you are experiencing any or all of the concerns above, you may qualify as a good candidate for blepharoplasty. However, it is important to note that patients who have a history of dry eyes and/or certain medical conditions may be better qualified for a different procedure. At the time of your consultation, our experienced facial plastic surgeons will be able to determine if eyelid surgery will be the best option for your unique needs.
